Now I’m no eco-warrior. I have a 4×4. I drive to work every day. I have a very old house and a family that likes the heating pumped on full. I work for an IT company that sends salespeople and consultants all over the country, and has several offices all consuming vast amounts of electricity.
But whether as indviduals or companies we are all coming under pressure to recognise our impact on climate change, whether it be regulatory changes forced by government, or commerical pressures from our customers. There’s also a creeping feeling (even for the rabid consumers like myself) that this can’t go on forever.
But where do you start? I understand the principles, but how do you integrate them into the way you live and work? I have no idea.
So this is my experiment. Over the next 12 months, to attempt to understand and reduce the carbon footprint that is under my personal and business influence, and update this blog with my progress.
